Mazda has been named the most reliable motor manufacturer in the UK.
The company topped a poll organised by independent automotive warranty specialist Warranty Direct.
Manufacturer rankings were based on the number of breakdowns and the average cost of repair recorded by Warranty Direct from the thousand of claims it handles every year.
Duncan McClure-Fisher of Warranty Direct said of Mazda: "Problems are few and far between, and its cars age well. Infrequent garage visits, quick repair times and reasonable bills have kept it as the most reliable manufacturer in the UK."
The second most reliable car was Ford, thanks mainly to its low annual repair cost of £208.
The average age of the vehicles analysed was 4.8 years old with 49,702 miles on the clock.
The top 10 most reliable models, according to Warranty Direct, were: 1. Mazda; 2. Ford; 3. Honda; 4. Toyota; 5. Vauxhall; 6. Hyundai; 7. Peugeot; 8. Nissan; 9. Fiat; 10. Volvo.
