The gossiping nation

Britain is a nation of gossipers, with just under 90% of us enjoy a good gossip with friends and work colleagues, according to a new survey.

More than one in 10 (14%) confessed they spent 2 hours a day gossiping. Work was found to be the most favourite topic of conversation (20%), current affairs (18%), relationships (17%), other peoples lives (17%), 6% of people talk about the rich and famous and only 3% talk about the weather.

The ICM poll of 1,004 adults across Britain also found an unsurprising gender divide when talking about relationships. A quarter of women (25%) said it was a popular topic, compared with just one in 10 men.
